Katie Bridges has been playing piano for as long as she can remember. She began taking formal lessons at the age of five and continued instruction through college. Katie attended Belmont University in Nashville, TN and Converse College in Spartanburg, SC, where she studied Piano Pedagogy. She is a classical pianist who has received well founded instruction in theory, technique, aural skills, music history, and teaching.
Katie has been teaching for more than 15 years and has taught a variety of students from preschoolers to adults, and everything in between. Her experience as a pianist includes accompanying instrumentalists, singers, and choruses; playing with many ensembles and chamber groups, including a jazz band; experience as a church musician; and performing in a variety of recitals and competitions. She was also the assistant director of a fine arts camp for three years, and worked in a sheet music store for eight years, giving her a vast knowledge of repertoire. Katie is a member of the Music Teachers National Association and the NCMTA. |
